The production process consumes far less water, electricity and raw materials than regular wood-based paper. 1 ton of grass pulp will take approx 2L of water. 137 kWh of enery and will produce approx. 75KG CO2 compared to regular wood pulp that needs 600L of water, 5000+ kWh of energy and 352KG CO2. No chemicals are required in the process of of sorting and turning the grass fibres into pulp.
Grass grows almost everywhere and keeps growing after each harvest. This makes it ideal for local sourcing, reducing the amount of transport needed within the supply chain. It can be easy recycled like other forms of paper, but it is also compostable.
